3d Process

Outlook of the geometry

- I changed the shape of the ground geometry. I will work for the old town from now on.

Characters
-Tadashi

- I don't finish uv-texturing yet. but this is almost done.

-Gitaro

- I put decorated paper texture on him, but looks just gray. might need to pick up more paper-looking texture. Uv-texturing is almost done.

-Chiko

- This character is on the process. She will wear overalls. I will put on her more yellowish texture.

I need to uv-texture 2 and a half charcters, and decide colors after that. As for the hightech city and the old Supana town, I will start creating the old one.

The Theory of a Hero

I upload the movie, The Theory of a Hero.

I changed some contents.
I had seven elements to define the concept of a hero vs a villain, but changed to five elements, though the main story is same as my first planning.

The size of this original video is huge, but since this blog just accepts the small size, I needed to upload tremendously compressed video with quality-down music. I hope this movie is afford to see.

At the last,
I would like to thank to Tony Leonard, who is in the illustration major. Without his help, this work would not have this nice story-telling style.

Process

I upload another short clip that I'm working on.
I finished up 60% of work.

The problem is that I might have to change the music because of the tempo of animation. Animation might be killing the good tempo of the song. I am still considering the possibility.

My idea for this scene is adding more characteristic images like the mountain behind the two characters. Also, I will change the style of typography both hero and villain because those look a little bit un-designed to me.

Final Project

Final Project: The Theory of Hero

Assignment Concept

Hero vs Villain (at least 30 seconds)

First Sketch

Concept

Since I have to deal with the matter of Hero vs Villain, what I focus on is the main idea of Hero as one of the world common sense. Hero has to win against villain. No matter how hero has difficulties on the way to his victory, he or she would stand alone in the last scene. Hero, a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities, is always positive, but he needs villain to be justice.

Villain, a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel, is the necessity of hero. But, generally, he will never win against hero. One

big interesting thing between hero and villain is the rule that villain has to obey. Villain can be morally evil like ignoring the society rules and committing every kind of crimes. However, he always follows the way of world common rules to kill somebody.
Story
A narrator talks about his opinion about typical hero story with smoking and drinking alcohol. He explains the theory of hero.

1. A Hero has an absolute definition.

2. A Hero is always together with the rule.

3. A Hero needs a villain which is a kind of company who keeps his rule.

4. A Hero needs some difficulties.

5. A Hero never dies.

6. A Hero absolutely gets victory.

7. A Villain has to lose.

Design For Media:Animation Project

Statement

The story came up in my mind with one curiosity about my everyday action from sleeping to running, and my interest is attracted by the natural flow and the connection of the behaviors of our daily actions. Every action appears as a natural behavior. There is no doubt when we see someone’s actions from walking on the street to going into some restaurants. There must be the moment that can be called the connection between actions e.g., the moment when a person goes from the street to inside a door. Those actions including the connection make up one main storyline. Those ambient actions are just as important as main storyline. If I lose something, the storyline can’t have a meaning to exist. From this perspective, I do not focus on the specific action like walking or sleeping, but start imaging the flow of the sequence movements, considering how natural our action is, and getting the meaning that those ambient actions equal to creating a storyline. Actions that we are doing everyday don’t have specific reasons, but flows naturally because it’s going to be a story. We tend to believe in the importance of scene changing like movies, but I need to re-think the idea.

Video

Practice compositing 2d with 3d animation. I needed to change the main story, especially scene 3 because of the matter of time consuming and my technical limit of animating animals.
